Turnitin – new this fall at KCC

Faculty have a new tool this semester to identify plagiarism and speed up grading of written work.  Turnitin dropbox, which is directly integrated into our Angel LMS, allows faculty or students to submit papers which are then compared to an extensive database of internet sources.  Turnitin’s database includes 24+ billion web pages, 300+ million archived student papers,  and 120+ million articles.  In addition to alerting faculty of potential plagiarism, Turnitin includes in-line grading of papers through Grademark.  This means no more downloading of papers, marking up in Word, and re-uploading.  Instead papers will load directly in the browser window for markup, grading, and comments.

Two training sessions will be offered in the coming weeks – no RSVP necessary:

  • September 3rd, 5:30-6:30pm in room M120
  • September 11th, 5:30-6:30pm in room M120

Upcoming Faculty Training

Welcome back KCC Faculty!  I wanted to briefly promote some training opportunities for both LiveText and Turnitin software.

Turnitin is an anti-plagiarism software platform that integrates into our Angel learning management system.  Paper submissions are compared against Turnitin’s extensive database that includes 24+ billion web pages, 300+ million student papers, and 120+ million articles.

LiveText is another software platform that we are currently using for instructional assessment at KCC.  The training will show you how to register a LiveText account and create and complete assessments.
